This video features construction photographs of Hartsfield-Jackson’s CONRAC customer service center (CSC).
More than two million passengers complete rental car transactions each year at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. In order to meet current needs and anticipated demands for rental vehicles, Hartsfield-Jackson is building a state-of-the-art Consolidated Rental Car (CONRAC) facility. When it opens in November 2009 CONRAC will house all Airport rental car companies and their associated operations, including customer service, administrative offices, ready/return parking, fueling and maintenance facilities.
The 67.5 acre CONRAC facility is located across Interstate 85 from the Airport and will connect to the existing passenger terminals via an Automated People Mover (APM) train system. The APM can move more than 10,000 passengers an hour to and from the passenger terminal along the 1.6 mile long elevated guideway. The trip between the terminal and the CONRAC APM station will be approximately five minutes. A stop at the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC) will provide direct passenger access to the facility during conventions and events.
By centralizing all rental car operations adjacent to the Airport, CONRAC will eliminate the need for rental agency shuttle buses and dramatically reduce the number of rental cars on terminal roadways. This should help minimize the Airports carbon footprint by improving overall traffic flow around the passenger terminal.
CONRAC is one of several projects included in Hartsfield-Jacksons Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The 10-year, currently $6-plus billion program supports the Airports overall mission by planning, designing, building and maintaining facilities to meet projected growth in domestic and international travel. CIP projects reduce flight delays, increase airfield and terminal capacity, enhance overall customer service, and substantially contribute to Georgias economic development.

Lisel Hlista here for TravelWishtv.com with your car rental travel tip.
Beware of hidden fees and taxes. Make sure to return your rental car with the same amount of gas that was in it when you left. The rental company keeps track of this and if you think gas is expensive now wait until you see what the rental company will charge your credit card per gallon.
Also stay away from renting at an airport if you can. Often times an additional “airport fee” in excess of $10 per day can be tacked unto your bill. Texas airports were the chief offenders, but airports in states like Arizona, Ohio, Maryland, Missouri and New Mexico also cost renters more in taxes and fees.
Another hidden fee is the excess taxes in addition to the sales tax such as the licensing fees, “arena fees,” mileage fees, or other confusing fees. Renter beware if you see any rates below $20 per day. These rates are too good to be true and are often loaded with hidden taxes.

Most renters know to decline the insurance and then are often swayed at the last second by a salesperson pressuring them that the insurance will actually save you money. When renting a car, you’ll be offered a collision damage waiver (CDW) and a loss damage waiver (LDW). The first covers you in the event of a collision, while the second covers any loss to the rental company. Both kinds of coverage are a good idea, but not if they duplicate coverage already included in your own insurance policy. Most insurance policies offer liability coverage to protect you if you injure someone in an accident; some also cover rental-car damage via comprehensive and collision coverage. Check your policy or call your insurance agent to verify coverage before signing up for a vehicle. If you’re renting the car with a credit card, your card provider even cover damage to the vehicle in result off a collision. Again, check with your card company ahead of time to make sure.

Best deal are often online. As is the case with many purchases, you’ll usually find the best rates on the Internet. Look around and compare prices this will give you time to explore the rates without a salesperson pressuring you to make a decision. Also, many companies offer special discounts to people who rent online. Rates will obviously vary from company to company, depending on vehicle availability, location and other factors. Rates are not the only factor also make sure the location is near your hotel or airport and that the hours of operation will work within your schedule as well. Often times you can book online and with your credit card pick up the keys and drive the automobile away 24 hours a day. How’s that for convienence?
