Has anyone traveled from CA to NY by car? Can i rent a car and do this?

Yes. Make sure the rental agency knows you plan to do this, because the normal agreement on most rental cars only lets you go one state away. You will have to pay an additional daily fee for a car with no state restrictions and unlimited mileage, and you may have to pay for additional insurance. For most rental agencies, you must also be over the age of 25, have a credit card, current proof of insurance, and of course a valid driver’s license.

Yes you can, just make sure you get a car with unlimited mileage or it will be very expensive.
