Lastly, if the ...
Lastly, if the rental car agency resorts to scare-tactics, put your foot down firmly. If the ask for your insurance company's name or the amount of your deductible before you rent the car, simply tell them that the law does not specify that you need to provide that information because the law does not require you to have insurance to rent a car. Don't let them try and fast-talk you into spending more money than you need to. You will be just fine without it. Trust me.

Lets be honest here ...
Lets be honest here. Rental car agencies are a business above all else. They are not offering to pay your $500 deductible for a mere $17 a day. They are selling something to you that they hope you don't need or use. And, statistically, you WON'T need or use it. If it wasn't a profit maker, they wouldn't sell it. If you have your own insurance, just ignore the sales pitch and decline the coverage.

5. The rental ...
5. The rental agency is always going to look for a way to NOT pay for any damages you cause while under their CDW coverage. In fact, there is a whole division of the company that is specifically designated towards counteracting the supposed benefits of CDW. They want to make money. That is the goal. Not to "protect their customers," but rather to soak up every dime they can. Therefore, if you crash a rental and have CDW, you can expect a full investigation in an attempt to void the coverage

4. If someone hits ...
4. If someone hits YOU when you are in a rental car and you DO have the CDW coverage, the rental car agency is going to file a claim against the person who hit you just the same as YOUR insurance company would do. So instead of saving yourself some money and just letting your own INS company handle the problem, you paid the rental car agency to do it instead. And god forbid if you're injured in the accident, because then your insurance company and the rental agency will be involved.

1. Your personal ...
1. Your personal auto insurance will cover any car you are driving. They are insuring YOU, not just your car.
2. So long as an accident is not your fault, neither your insurance company nor the rental car agency can collect your deductible.
3. If you are renting for an undetermined amount of time (i.e. your car is in the body shop), the CDW charges will far surpass the price of your deductible should you have the rental car for over 2 1/2 weeks.

Uhg......Rental ...
Uhg......Rental insurance is the biggest scam. I used to work for Enterprise, so I know how the whole system works. From the first day of job training, the corporate offices spend a great deal of time brain-washing their employees into believing the "good" aspects of Collision Damage Waiver. That way, employees won't have a problem selling this unconscionable service to their customers. Read my other post to see why this is a scam.

Wow, this is ...
Wow, this is dumb, and her IQ must be a 0. First of all, if you use your insurance to protect the rental car, and something happens to the vehicle enterprise will collect your deductuble (which on average is $500). Second of all, Credit Card companies don't cover you for liability coverage, and they won't always refund your deductible. If you plan on just having a car for a couple of days, take their insurance, its really cheap, and ur deductible will be waived.

Wow, that is so 1 ...
Wow, that is so 1 sided. While all that is true, if anything happens to the car it wont go through the insurance company and if no police report is filed it wont affect your insurance. I had a claims adjuster tell me that when she travels she always gets the protection for the car because she doesn't know the roads and rather not risk it going to her insurance if anything happens.

If you decline the ...
If you decline the rental insurance be prepared to pay up your collision deductable (100-1000...either way money that you really dont want to give up) whether the damage was your fault or not and even if you knew it was there or not. Oh yeah and make sure you expect your premium to go up with your company in the next cycle

In the rental ...
In the rental agrement you authorize the rental company to charge you "what is necessary" in case of damage or theft. So you HAVE to pay
They are not obblying you. You have already authorized penalties signing the contract.
Another non-sense tip.
this time even dangerous.
spending few bucks a day you can have a coverage and avoid surprises.
pls stop giving people dangerous and stupid tips.
I work in car rentals as an employee.
I've seen lot of people ruined from these stupid suggestions!
