Enterprise Rent-A-Car – Ripoffs and Scams?

I had to rent a car last month and before dropping it off I not only cleaned the inside, but had several sets of eyes look it over too, to make sure that was nothing wrong.

When I returned the vehicle the rep did not inform me that he was doing a look-around. He just disappeared and then 15-20 minutes later returned saying that there was damage. I told him that there was definitely no damage, but he insisted.

Rather than cause a scene, I figured that I’d contact my insurance company myself, which I did. However, I was never made aware that Enterprise was charging me for my entire deductible. I declined their insurance.

I started to research and found out that Enterprise is notorious for scamming. Funny thing is I only used them because I have a 50% off coupon, which I got as a result of a class action law suite.

I’m fighting the charge to my credit card.

I want to know if anyone else experienced similar and what was the outcome?
I never get irrate. It solves nothing. I was not able to get pictures, but I did tell the rep that I expected to accompany him on the walk-around. I also told him that I would pay the deductible only after I received a written statement with the estimate.
hullru – they really are bogus, aren’t they? I think I’m out of luck with my case, but I needed to know if I was the only one with an issue with Enterprise.

Good luck with them. I’ve dealt with them through my company with no problems. Usually for personal use I use Budget though. One time I did have a problem with Enterprise on a personal use rental and they wanted to charge me for not having enough gas in it. I showed the guy that it was half full when they gave it to me and he said that wasn’t possible because they always fill them up. So I asked him why he was hassling me when it was clearly written on my paperwork. I mentioned that I never got this kind of hassle when I rented for work. He asked who I worked for (which is a major customer of theres) and he said the gas thing was no problem and appologized. So yeah, I think they are shistey.

I rented on line from them for an road trip WI to NC. When renting the car they ask if I was taking out of state, and where to? I told them, and found out that unlimited mileage stops at the state boarder. They wanted to charge me double for they car once they had me at the counter. I should mention that the lady "helped" us by showing online in the fine print where that rule was located.
I turned around and walked to every other rental car at the airport and asked them it they had real unlimited mileage or fake. They all laugh and said, "We have REAL unlimited." I got the feeling I was not the only one who ever had a problem there.
