flying in from missouri and meeting family. the car has to be big enough for 6 and a baby + luggage. and if car rental gives military discounts.
Go to www.carrentals.com and select San Diego airport (SAN). Then select the dates you need and see what comes up.
You’ll need at least a mini van and I saw a couple for about $300 a week (Ace car rentals and Fox car rentals). More well-known places like Budget or Enterprise wanted more like $400 for the week. This was just a test week I chose randomly (April 13 to April 20).
Also, check with your insurance company as to whether your current coverage includes rental cars. I have AAA and it covers any rental car I get (except for something like a 1 ton truck or bigger). If you opt for the full coverage that might be included with your personal insurance, it could cost $25 to $30 a day to get the coverage through the rental company.

If you go to the Transportations Plaza there will be car rental shuttles there to take you to where you can rent a car.

National Car Rental is very good, and I believe that they give military discounts. Can make advance reservations or grab shuttle and go. Easy access to Harbor Drive.

If you have USAA(military only), you could go through their website and rent a car. USAA is a great company, they do everything(banking, insurance, life insurance, etc. and it’s free to sign up.
