I have a nephew coming up to visit and he is staying 3 months, so he wanted to buy a car instead of renting one. He is evidently not a resident, but a tourist. Can he do this? Thanks!
Yes he can. He will just need to use your address. It’s best to do this with a dealer because they will issue him a temp tag and reg. at that address, and the DMV will mail the originals to that address. This is done a lot and it’s legal
We are moving to USA for one year, and need transportation. Buying a car is one thing, getting rid of it the last week/days before we return is another.
As an alternative to buying a car, which can be troublesome before we have opened bank accounts, have no permanent address etc – I am looking into renting/leasing a car for one year. What are my options?
For buying, a used SUV would be my first choice.
Call Enterprise Rent a Car, they have a long term monthly rental program.
I have no idea what their costs are but if they are less than $250 a month it would be worth considering. Anything more than that would be wasting money. You can buy a good used car and resell it for much less than that.
