I’m 24 years old and I need to rent a car from Dollar company at the San Francisco airport. It’s an economy car, just need a simple car. Will they let me rent it?

It should not be a problem as long as you have a credit card. I recommend you make a reservation.

It would only be for 2 days and it wouldn’t have to be an extravagant car or anything. My boyfriend is going to be flying from Arkansas to North Carolina. It would be easier for him to fly than to drive, and I don’t have transportation right now to pick him up. Would it be cheaper to rent from the airport or from a rental lot?

It probably would be cheaper to rent it from an off-airport location, since there is always an extra fee that goes to the airport authority for rentals that are either on airport property or at a consolidated rental facility that runs shuttles to and from the airport. Phone one or two to find out how the cost compares between on- and off-site.

I’m flying from Atlanta to Detroit tomorrow. My ride flaked out. I know you typically have to be 25 to rent a car but I was hoping that someone has heard of exceptions?

Most places require you to be 25, I believe a few are 21. Best thing would be for you to call and find out if any will rent to you.

If you are a resident of the Philippines, your license from there will be sufficient to legally drive in California.

The only way to answer your question would be to go to the respective car rental company’s websites, punch in the dates you want to rent, type of vehicle you want and whether it’s a return or drop of somewhere else.

Yes, you will be able to rent a car at the airport. You’ll need both your normal UAE licence and an International Driving Permit (if your UAE licence isn’t in English) and you must carry both licences at all times you are driving. You can drive on those licences for up to 3 months, by which time you must have an Australian licence for the state you will be living in.

So I would like to rent a car directly at the airport. The only one that lets me drop it off in Canada is Hertz, but it is about a mile away from the airport which is kinda ridiculous. So I was wondering if there is a Hertz stand or something at the airport ? Thanks.

There are other agencies that will let you take cars into Canada. I know Alamo and National will, and I believe the other major agencies Avis/Budget/Dollar/Thrifty will as well. You may have to try different drop off locations for available rates. You could also try breaking your rental into two seperate rentals depending on where you are heading. Say you are going to Toronto, try dropping in Buffalo and doing another rental to Toronto. Try a search comparison engine for different options.

Please, can anyone suggest a resonably priced, reliable and helpful car hire firm which is based at Lamezia Terme airport in Italy? We’ll be there on 2nd July, and need a small car to zip around in for a week. Every review of every car hire firm on the net is awful! Are there any good ones out there? (And we don’t want to have to walk a mile from the airport to find the offices either). Many thanks!

I have used 4 of the companies (Avis, Hertz, Maggiore and Sixt) before I moved to Italy and never had any problems with them. None of the rentals were from this location though.

I already booked a trip to Miami and will need to rent a car. I should have done it as a package when booking my flight, but can’t do so after the fact. Should I just do it now online or should I wait until we land and do it then?

Yes its always cheaper to rent car ahead of travel time. As the date approaches the the cost of rental car will increase. So it better of when you are sure with your dates of travel book car for yourself. Also there are companies that have no cancellation fee so you don’t have to worry to much.
